In this video I install a Raymarine hydraulic autopilot on my small steel motor cruiser Renko. The steering was already hydraulic, so adding the autopilot meant fitting T-pieces to the steering lines so a hydraulic pump can move the steering ram. The pump is controlled by the Evolution autopilot (EV-1), which takes its instructions from the Axiom multifunction display.

On a steel boat the hull bends the earth's magnetic field, throwing off the autopilot and radar heading. I map the deviation with a phone app and hand compass, then position and calibrate Raymarine compasses.
