These videos follow the wiring of Renko, my steel trawler, from planning to upgrades. In this one I install the main fuse panels in the wheelhouse, then a wireless inductive phone charger.
Planning a trawler's 12V system alongside its 24V starting system. I talk through a DC to DC charger fed by alternator and solar, a fused DC board with bus bars, and single point hull earthing.
Polyboard panels give the electrics and wiring a tidy mounting point that won't rot. I clean and paint the engine bay, then weld angle iron brackets to the bulkheads and cut panels to fit.
An electric anchor winch reverses polarity to go up or down, through a 70 amp circuit breaker, control solenoid and switch. I run the cables forward and fix a winch that only runs one way.
Adding mains power, deck lighting and USB charging to a boat. I run 240 volt cable to the lazarette, connect and earth a 2000W inverter and test it, then wire individually switched aft deck lights.
